SAD NEWS

Recently read this news and was saddened. How can this happen ? Guess government should regulate rent here. This is not good. Please read.  By Biodun Busari Copied from  www.vanguardngr.com Many people are experiencing homelessness as housing prices and rents have increased in Canada’s real estate markets. Reports said tens of thousands have started living on the streets of Canada, which remains a top destination for immigrants and refugees. According to a new study in September, one in two homeless people in Quebec can be located in rural areas of the eastern province rather than primarily in Montreal, as was previously the case. India Times reported that in a Quebec government assessment, nearly one in every four homeless people ended up on the street after being evicted from housing. The number of homeless people in Quebec rose by 44 per cent between 2018 and 2022, reaching 10,000 last year. It said indigenous people, who make up 5% of the Canadian populati...

MY THOUGHT ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Image
Hello readers, guess you have been hearing of the rise in artificial intelligence.  We now have some as apps that will do virtually everything for you, no matter your profession. They will write for you, design for you, compose songs, letters, etc, for you. Just ask and they do it all. Robots are also been produced to replace humans in many endeavors. They can teach, perform surgery, play games, shop for you and do virtually all a person can do. We even have some built as real women that will do everything a woman can do. I recently got an app with so much ability as artificial intelligence that all I need to do is just sit, tell it what I want to write and it will do the rest. These virtual 'guys' can design websites, prepare presentations, answer virtually any question on any subject on earth and even teach you any food recipe you want to know. They can diagnose you and do your health check, measure your calories,...the list is endless. They even have audio functi...

JUST CHATTING

Image
A cold evening over here in Nigeria.  Rain since afternoon, off and on. Good for me, i didn't go out much today. Lying on my bed and planning to embark on a private evening dining adventure of adding groundnut condiment to garri flakes seasoned with beverage and honey, all mixed in water and milk solution. The appropriate name is garri milkshake (my coinage) A Nigerian delicacy. Try it, you will love it.  Need to take your mind off stress and just cool off; try flowers. They work wonders on the mood. Let them be around your home and dining in abundance. Their presence, if beautiful and radiant enough, can ease your stess and enhance your mood. Why don't you try my garri milkshake or if you can't; get a cup of tea, a relaxing instrumental and view the following calming flowers. Trust me, you will momentarily forget your sorrows. Let's go.  This last one...

THE CHEF

Image
AGBEJA THE CHEF Agbeja is a young Kenyan man shining shoe by the roadside. He desired a better life. Being a roadside shoe shiner, he was well positioned to see all the happenings in town. He notices big cars pass and poor people going pass too. He wished he could improve his standard of living.   One day, a chef, graduate of a culinary school who had served in the offices and homes of various rich people, came to shine his shoe. The chef left after Agbeja finished work on the shoe. In the night, as Agbeja prepared  to close, he noticed a paper under the chair customers sit on while he works on their shoe. He picked it up and discovered it was the culinary school certificate of the professional chef that came for shoe shining during the day. It must have slipped from the chef's pocket while sitting on the chair. Written at the bottom of the certificate was a good comment by the owner of the school, Mrs Ajoke Onifilagogoro, saying the chef was her b...

THE BEHIND THE SCENE

Image
THE BEHIND THE SCENE IS THE FATHER OF WHAT IS SEEN  Many of you have watched certain movies and enjoyed the entertainment. You sat down and watched for just an hour or two. Unknown to you, it took days, weeks or probably months to produce that movie you watched for just two hours. You went to that restaurant, ordered that food and ate to your satisfaction. Try and visit the kitchen to see how many cooks are busy sweating and labouring for few hours to produce the food you ate with relish. You saw a big and beautiful house, you purchased it and had a home. Rewind and check the days, months or probably years of hard work of engineers, various artisans who laboured non stop to produce that house.  This is the same in every field of life. A teacher stood in front of the class and taught you mathematics. Do you know how many years of learning and college education it took for that teacher to master that subject ? What is the point here ? The behind the scene...

WARRIORS GRADUATE

Image
WARRIORS GRADUATE Have you seen university students just graduating and wearing their graduation gowns with the cap on the head, looks good doesn't it ? The graduation gown signifies something, it is a product of battles fought and won. This battle started when you were still a kid. You passed through nursery, primary and secondary education many call high school. The higher you moved in education and the closer you got to the graduation gown, the fiercer the battle. Nursery does not place much demand on you, the battles are next to nothing. To graduate from nursery and primary are no big deal, just ensure you don't stop there. If you opt out at that stage due to fear of confronting the fierce battles of higher education of day and night lectures, exams, tests, sleepless nights, loads of books to read, assignments, researches, projects and diverse practicals, tutorials, group studies, etc, that might span over a few years, you will never emerge to wear the graduatio...

OKEY GOES TO SCHOOL

Image
Okey was a 13yr old boy who had never been to school. He grew up following his mother to trade and also joined other boys on the farm.  Luck came his way one day when the local government declared free education only for secondary school (high school) students.  The normal thing is for all beginners to start at the primary school level to learn the basics before proceeding to secondary school. Only secondary education was now free and Okey must go to school. To gain entrance into free secondary school without being rejected due to not having a primary school leaving certificate, Okey stole the good primary school result of a boy. The boy was good in mathematics, English and other subjects. The primary school certificate was also attached. In those days, no pictures were attached to the papers. Okey went to the nearest secondary school to register as a student. Since it was a new school session resumption, many boys and girls also came to register with their valid p...
